A Book Tour for Partisans?

New today: the release date for Kennedy’s two-volume tome has been pushed to 2026, and he revealed in his disclosure that he received a paltry $63,750 advance last year, paid through the Javelin Group, which is also literary agent for Justices Kavanaugh’s and Barrett’s far more lucrative book deals.

Fix the Court asked his publisher, Simon & Schuster, if Kennedy’s check was one of one or if he has future advances or royalties coming, but a spokesperson “decline[d] to comment.”

In any event, with Kennedy’s and also Justice Jackson’s autobiographies forthcoming, let’s move to Justice Gorsuch’s second post-confirmation book, which came out last week.

His book tour so far: the Wall Street Journal editorial board, “Fox News Sunday, “Fox & Friends,” Fox News’ “America Reports,” the “Hugh Hewitt Show,” the “Megyn Kelly Show,” the “Ben Shapiro Sunday Special,” the Reagan Presidential Library, the Nixon Presidential Library, CBS News (interviewed by a former Fox News reporter) and the New York Times (interviewed by conservative columnist).

Fine, there was one AP and one Atlantic interview for good measure.

Are we surprised? No (remember this?). Should we expect more balance? Of course.

With most of the country saying the justices are deciding cases based on their political preferences, it does the Court no favors when a conservative justice offers himself up to predominantly conservative news outlets.
