Fix the Court executive director Gabe Roth released this statement following news that Ginni Thomas, wife of Justice Clarence Thomas, wrote an apology to her husband’s former law clerks for her advocacy of President Trump and endorsement of the rally held before last month’s insurrection at the Capitol:

Issuing an apology means Ginni believes she’s reflecting poorly on Team Thomas, and that includes Clarence Thomas, which is obvious.

But contrition means little if it’s not followed by actions.

In other words, she must stop giving awards to conspiracy theorists. Stop attacking the Parkland survivors. And stop sharing Facebook posts with blatantly wrong and offensive information about the Holocaust.

Given the deadly events of Jan. 6, hopefully she’s learned a lesson that sticks.
