Fix the Court-Endorsed Bills in the 118th Congress
A running tally of bills introduced between Jan. 3, 2023, and Jan. 3, 2025, that FTC supports:
Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal and Transparency Act (S. 359 / H.R. 926)
Would mandate a SCOTUS ethics code and stronger recusal, travel, gift, travel and amicus disclosure rules.
Supreme Court Ethics Act (S. 325 / H.R. 927)
Would mandate a SCOTUS ethics code and create the position of investigations counsel that would examine and report on unethical behavior by the justices.
Injunctive Authority Clarification Act (H.R. 89)
Would limit a federal judge’s injunctive order to the parties in a case — i.e., not to everyone in the country, as often happens these days.
“Korematsu Day of Civil Liberties and the Constitution” resolution (H. Res. 74)
Would create a day of remembrance in honor of the Japanese-Americans sadly and wrongly interned during World War II.
As of Feb. 14, 2023, none of these bills has yet had a hearing, markup or vote.
