Fix the Court and 15 other media and transparency organizations have signed a letter urging the leaders of the House and Senate Courts Subcommittees to work together on a federal court modernization bill.

After 2018’s ROOM Act and 2020’s 21st Century Courts Act, not to mention several earlier and contemporaneous broadcast and ethics bills, the groups assert that there’s strong bipartisan momentum to enact measures to improve trust and transparency in the third branch.

“We believe that now is the time to take the aspects of these bills with the most consensus—live appellate audio, SCOTUS ethics, recusal explanations and online disclosures—and draft a unified court modernization measure in this Congress,” the groups write.
