Why a Travel Ban Case in Federal Court Was Televised...

…Because the Western District of Washington, where one of the travel ban cases was filed, was allowed to keep its cameras running once the cameras-in-courts pilot program concluded in July 2015.

Americans are becoming civically engaged in an odd-numbered year in astounding numbers, and it’s critical they understand the role all three branches of government play.

Broadcasting the travel ban case conveys its gravity through a medium that a majority of people – young and old, via online video or the evening news – still get their information, and as the judicial branch’s role in holding the republic together grows, other federal courts should follow the Western District’s lead.
