Breyer's Brother to Hear Major Volkswagen Lawsuit
More than 500 lawsuits filed against Volkswagen over its emissions-limit-cheating software will be consolidated and heard by U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer in the Northern District of California. Breyer is the brother of Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, meaning, should these cases reach the high court, only eight justices would likely sit to hear them.
At least Justice Breyer does not own shares of VW, and he famously sold his shares in Johnson Controls, which makes seats for the carmaker, in October.
