FTC Writes Letter to National Archives Asking, "Why Was Alito Event Not Archived?"

20141120-reforms-alitoAfter last night’s packed – yet not broadcast – “Conversation on the Constitution” at the National Archives in Washington, D.C., with Justice Samuel Alito, Fix the Court executive director Gabe Roth wrote a letter to the head of the Archives Foundation calling on future “Conversations” to be live-streamed on the Foundation’s website.

While it is possible that Justice Alito himself did not want the event to be broadcast, as a public figure he does not have an expectation of privacy, especially for a newsworthy “public” event that takes place outside of the confines of the Supreme Court courtroom, where broadcast media is still banned.
