Members of Congress Call for Live Audio of Decision Announcements
Fix the Court applauds the bipartisan group of U.S. senators and representatives who wrote a letter to Chief Justice John Roberts today requesting that the court provide a live audio feed of upcoming rulings on same-sex marriage, the death penalty and the Affordable Care Act, among others.
Fix the Court’s Gabe Roth said: “Just as the decisions made by the justices this term have been characterized by compromise between competing views of the Constitution, allowing live audio of opinion announcements is a logical compromise between the court’s current technological jitters and the end goal of many transparency advocates, which is live video and audio of both oral arguments and decisions announcements.”
