Fix the Court Statement on SCOTUS Same-Day Audio Announcement

Fix the Court’s Gabe Roth released the following statement in response to today’s announcement that the Supreme Court will release an audio file of the same-sex marriage case (Apr. 28) in the hours after the hearing, as opposed to the normal practice of waiting until Friday to release the audio:

Today’s same-day audio announcement makes it seem as if the justices are picking and choosing which case is the most important one of the term. Instead, Chief Justice Roberts should establish a standard, more open media policy at the Supreme Court, one that includes live video and audio coverage of its hearings and decision announcements. Congressional debates are televised. White House briefings are televised. There is no reason the Supreme Court shouldn’t be televised, too.
